Montenegro Sailing Experience
Map Background

Yachting in Montenegro is a great way to spend time on the water, explore beautiful places, and experience the freedom of a sea voyage. With over 250 sunny days a year and a mild Mediterranean climate, the sailing season here lasts from early spring to late autumn. There are two main yachting areas: Boka Kotorska Bay and the Adriatic Coast.

Boka Kotorska Bay is a sheltered area of about 90 km², where waves remain relatively small even in bad weather. This makes the bay an ideal spot for beginners and those who prefer calmer sailing conditions. Along the coastline, you will find charming towns such as Herceg Novi, Perast, Kotor, and Tivat, each known for its historical sites, cozy promenades, and restaurants.

The Adriatic Coast, stretching from the Budva Riviera to Ulcinj, offers open sea conditions with longer passages, fresh winds, and a chance to challenge yourself with more active sailing.

This area is particularly suitable for experienced captains who enjoy longer routes and wish to visit coastal towns such as Budva, Petrovac, Sutomore, Bar, and Ulcinj.

The yachting infrastructure in Montenegro is well-developed. Modern marinas such as Porto Montenegro, Porto Novi, Lazure, and Lustica Bay provide convenient facilities for mooring, maintenance, and relaxation. There are also three international airports in the region — Tivat, Podgorica, and Dubrovnik (Croatia), making Montenegro an easily accessible starting point for your sailing adventure.

Depending on your preferences, you can choose either a classic monohull sailboat, which offers a more direct connection to the wind and waves, or a catamaran, which provides more space and comfort for the crew. Both options are ideal for leisurely exploring Montenegro’s coastline and enjoying a relaxing time on the water.
