Mirišta & Fort Arza
Mirišta is a small and cozy beach area located on the Lustica Peninsula, far from the bustling tourist spots. It attracts those seeking seclusion, crystal-clear waters, and stunning landscapes. The coastline features small coves with transparent waters, surrounded by Mediterranean pines and olive trees. Unlike the more crowded beaches of Montenegro, Mirišta maintains a peaceful atmosphere, even during the peak summer season.
The local beaches have a gentle slope into the water and a soft pebble and sand surface, making them comfortable for families with children. There are no strong waves, and the shallow waters warm up quickly, creating ideal swimming conditions. The sea in this area is exceptionally clear, making it a popular spot for snorkeling. The underwater world is rich with marine flora and fauna, and the excellent visibility allows snorkelers to observe the seabed even at significant depths. Many visitors bring masks and fins to explore rocky formations and seaweed-covered areas, enjoying the serene marine environment.

Beyond snorkeling, Mirišta also attracts divers, who come to explore coastal reefs and remnants of old sunken boats. Hiking enthusiasts can take scenic coastal trails, offering breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea and remote islands. The area is also known for its family-run seaside restaurants, where visitors can savor fresh seafood, traditional Montenegrin dishes, and local homemade wine, while enjoying the gentle sea breeze and tranquil surroundings.

Not far from Mirišta, on the southernmost tip of the Lustica Peninsula, stands Fort Arza—one of the most impressive coastal defense structures. Built by the Austro-Hungarians in the 19th century, it was part of the naval defense system guarding the entrance to the Bay of Kotor.
The fort sits on a small rocky outcrop, directly on the water, and is distinguished by its massive stone walls and circular shape. Its strategic position and imposing architecture make it a notable landmark for maritime travelers.

Fort Arza once played a vital role in protecting the bay from potential naval attacks. Together with other fortifications along the coast, it formed a strong defensive network. Over time, however, its military importance diminished, and today it stands as a historical monument, attracting explorers and visitors. While the interior is not accessible, tourists often approach the fortress by boat to admire its impressive walls and capture stunning photographs of this historic site.

The combination of Mirišta’s natural beauty and Fort Arza’s historical significance makes this corner of Lustica Peninsula a truly unique destination. Here, visitors can enjoy peace and seclusion, swim in pristine waters, explore ancient fortifications, and experience the untouched nature of Montenegro. For those seeking a getaway away from the crowds, Mirišta and Fort Arza provide the perfect setting for relaxation and adventure.
